![]() ![]() ![]() Though I am often careful with my money, I came to the point where I simply couldn’t turn down a cheap deal. I feel better as a gamer for doing that and to be honest, I don’t think I would have become inspired to write without that. In a way, I had grown as a gamer, I had grown away from my nostalgia barrier that led me down a narrow path in gaming. Games just stopped coming out (games that I cared about anyways) and I had to change myself as a gamer, I had to be open-minded and explore new areas of gaming which I hadn’t before. In any case, how is this relevant to controlling your backlog/spending? Well you see in the latter half of the seventh generation, I hit a massive burnout. Since this isn’t my job, I’m not going to play every single game on the face of the earth and throw out a review… though I may occasionally try something new, I want to stick to writing about games that I am passionate about or manage to gain my full attention and considering the fact that the gaming industry is changing for the better, I have to change to adapt to that, as a writer. Unfortunately with this mindset, I have to become a lot more close-minded. Sure there are a lot more harder things to do but reviewing is considered a hobby to me. In fact the moment you start improving as a reviewer is the moment when you start to realize that it is hard work. However it’s not easy to make a solid review. To make a review is pretty easy if you think about it, all you need to do is write what you’re thinking. However, the quality of them was appalling among other things. ![]() ![]() We make it a occasion every first Saturday in December to have a meal at Chen's then take in the holiday lights in the neighborhood. Great food at a very reasonable price, fast service and friendly employees. We have eaten at Chen's for 25 years and have never been disappointed in the food or service. Usually get the chicken chow mein with fried rice. and I hope I can warn as many away from their doors as possible. It's just as simple as this - if you screw up, make it right. ![]() but this quality of product - this type of cowardice - this type of disregard for customer service is never acceptable. A bad meal now and again is just par for the course. I told him I knew it wasn't his fault, but I'd never be back - and I'd be certain to tell as many people as I possibly could. I reminded them how much business they get from me and my family - and he said "Oh I know, I recognize you" and that this was BAD BUSINESS. and it probably cost them 50 cents to make. I calmly told him, while making eye contact with the wimp in the kitchen through the curtain that this was all over a $5.00 lunch which now cost me my entire lunch time, two trips worth of gas. I'd rather eat my own foot than what I imagined would be coming out of the kitchen at that point. So he said he was just going to buy me my lunch. He goes back to the chicken$hits in the kitchen and tried to reason with them. I had offered to bring it back - twice - and was told no - twice. they wouldn't have seen it had I just taken the credit and B. Well, don't ya know, now the cowards in the kitchen - who would not come out and handle it themselves - and even CALLED him on the PHONE at one point in order to avoid talking to me, made this poor guy tell me that NOW they wanted to see the food. no bag on the counter and the guy is pretty red-faced and looking mighty uncomfortable. As I enter the door, I know something's wrong. So, I get in my car and drive back again. I asked - again - if he wanted me to bring back the lunch. and hopefully DOES have veggies (although I'm figuring it's a crap shoot by this point). He said that was fine, suggested shrimp with veggies - which does NOT have breading. they were going to give me a credit for a lunch at another time - meaning they would never see the state of this lunch in order to give me another. If they were willing to give me a new lunch at another time, why didn't I just drive up there and get it now so I have something to eat. ![]() I had nothing to eat at this point and B. And all I had to do was call back and my number which was "registered in their phone" would let them know I had that credit coming. I asked him, "What kind of discount?" Back on hold. He came back and told me I had a "discount" on the next lunch. He told me that I didn't need to do that. At this point (and this is important), I say to him "I can bring it to you and show you." Now, I'm "fairly" pleasant during all this, but it's easy to hear/tell. I told him I had just purchased a lunch of breading and rice. and that I was having trouble finding much shrimp at all! I proceeded to pull the breading off all the shrimp, and I found, I'd estimate, an equivalant to 2 tablespoons of shrimp encased in about 1 1/2 cups of breading. ![]() I then told him that I, as we were talking, had begun to peel the nasty, crusty breading off the shrimp. I told him, had I known there were no veggies, I wouldn't have ordered it. Further, I had been told there were MORE veggies in the s&s shrimp. Then I told him there's nothing that indicated there are no vegetables in the lunch orders on their website. He told me that there no vegetables in the lunch order. I told the guy who answered the phone (the same guy who waited on me when I went to pick it up). I'm in there often, this isn't usually a problem I encounter. As I looked over the five pieces of shrimp and the mound of white rice, I noticed that the breading on the shrimp was beyond old. I got back to work, opened my lunch and found no vegetables. So I drive up there on my lunch, and picked up my order. I've gotten it before, because, in the past, I have ordered the sweet and sour chicken, and when I questioned the lack of vegetables, I was told I would get more veggies if I ordered sweet and sour shrimp. I just ordered a sweet and sour shrimp lunch. All in all, if you're looking for some decent delivery chinese, this is it for great Chinese food and skip CHEF CHEN'S! YUCK!!! The owners and employees must post the 5 star reviews! Go to Chen's restaurant on North Second St. Sadly, there wasn't anything good about this meal. My "chicken chow mien" was a bowl filled with uncooked onions, 4 thin slivers of celery, and a few suspiciously hard to identify pieces of meat covered with a flavorless tan water. This place is terrible! We couldn't believe how poor the quality was. ![]() ![]() The first few weeks are probably going to have daily mini-patches as most online games do There will be problems but the game itself should be playable. I expect it to be as stable and bug free as any other online game release. So do I expect them to create a smooth online experience? Sure. Heck, I remember an interview some years back (I think it might have been FO3 timeframe) where the lead dev mentioned that some bugs found during testing are intentionally left in if they were funny but not gamebreaking. That's not to say that Bethesda's games are bug free, but I personally have never encountered a game-breaking bug during a completely vanilla playthrough of any of their games. And to be perfectly honest the greater percentage of bugs, CTDs, game freezes and such that I have experienced over the years have come after adding mods. But I have played every Bethesda offering from Morrowind to present on release day and invested a great deal of time into each before I ever touched mods for them. Links to these posts have been shared thousands of times on Facebook and Twitter as people looked for guidance on whether or not to leave their homes and neighborhoods. The site, which is run by two local journalists - Eric Berger, a certified meteorologist, and his partner, Matt Lanza, a forecast meteorologist who used to work in broadcasting - posted round the clock during the storm, updating multiple times a day with flood projections and forecasts, as the situation in Southeast Texas grew ever more volatile. Some clicked on the National Weather Service, or major commercial weather sites but many others checked out Space City Weather, a Houston-area weather blog that received more than a million page views on Sunday alone. ![]() Another cheerful thought: Our risk of storm-surge flooding from a hurricane is one of the highest in America in terms of damage potential. On Sunday, as Hurricane Harvey touched down in Houston, millions of people in Texas and beyond jumped online to find out what was expected of the storm and how they could keep their families safe. Dallas, Fort Worth and San Antonio have a slight edge on Houston in the flash-flooding department, but it’s not by a wide margin, and Houston is catching up, as our area is seeing an increase in flash-flood events. And according to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Texas sees some of the highest frequencies of flooding events in the country. The Gulf Coast clocks some of the highest annual rainfall totals of any region in the country. I s Houston more flood-prone than other major U.S. This year a weak or non-existent El Niño is unlikely to have a significant effect on hurricane season. La Niña, on the other hand, has historically led to somewhat more active hurricane seasons in the Atlantic. El Niño tends to increase wind shear over the Atlantic Ocean, limiting hurricane activity. Both patterns also affect hurricane season. A strong El Niño usually leads to a bit more rain and a few degrees lower temperatures during Texas's late fall and winter, whereas La Niña’s effects are the opposite. Unlike some other parts of the United States, Houston typically doesn’t see major effects from either of these climatological patterns, the periodic warming (El Niño) and cooling (La Niña) of the equatorial Pacific Ocean. Image: Shutterstock H ow do El Niño and La Niña typically impact Houston’s weather? When Hurricane Ike hit three years later, officials seemed to have learned some of those lessons. Third, there was poor planning on the part of local and state officials, who had no system in place for implementing contraflow traffic lanes or staging evacuations from the area’s most vulnerable residents to the least. ![]() Second, three days before landfall, Rita truly was a menacing storm, with Category 5 winds and a projected path that would have brought an immense storm surge into Houston (in, the end, it turned right, hitting the Texas-Louisiana border before landfall). First, Rita arrived just three weeks after Hurricane Katrina, so images from a flooded New Orleans were fresh in our minds. There were several reasons for the terrible traffic jam that occurred as everyone tried to get out of town at the same time. W hy was traffic so bad during the Hurricane Rita evacuation?Īnyone who lived in Houston in 2005 remembers Rita, and the nightmarish evacuation that took place in the days before it came ashore. During this period, nearly every single bayou and river in the Houston area saw waters rise above banks at least once. The totals were bolstered by six historic rainfall events, including the Memorial Day Floods (2015), Halloween rains (2015) and Tax Day floods (2016). This annihilated the previous total by about a foot-prior to then, Houston’s wettest consecutive 18 months had yielded a total of 106.68 inches. From March 1, 2015, through August 31, 2016, Houston received a total of 119.77 inches of rain, according to the National Weather Service. I had the chance some time ago to test the Cintiq and what I realized was that it was an advantage to be able to see "through your hand" while working- meaning your hand isn't blocking the view of your screen.īut I also know there's a lot of enthusiastic Cintiq users so it's nice to hear their input. I've worked with Intuos for 14 years now- for the longest time the Cintiq was always a kind of dream tablet. I don't know anything about the Ipad Pro- but where you are, is it possible to go to a store and test how it feels between a Cintiq and an Intuos Pro? Wacom Intuos Pro Medium €300 / Large €430 I am not interested so much in the fact that iPad can do more things, my main interest is to use it as an input device for TVPaint.Ģ. Besides the size, were iPad seems to be the most budget option, I cannot find a honest review regarding the comparison between the two in terms of quality of input (feeling of drawing) and lagging (taking into account that the iPad will be using also an additional app -Astropad). It seems that in terms of size iPad is bigger and I can definitely not afford a larger version of a Cintiq tablet. Which of the following tablets would you recommend me to purchase as the best solution for using for animation purposes? I am mostly divided between the iPad Pro and the Wacom Cintiq 13HD. So here is my question to more experienced users: The input works but it is very very far from ideal. Years passed, technology evolved and I am now trying to make TVPaint work with Astropad and my iPad 3 (with creative stylus 2). It was the only thing I could afford at the moment and I was not very happy with it. Many years ago I did a short (very very basic animation in flash) using a Wacom Graphire tablet. I am now learning on the demo version of TVPaint to see if I can eventually be any good at it, in order to purchase a license, as this is the software I am interested in using. ![]() |
